Ali Muhammad Nuhu Born (March 15, 1974) in Maiduguri is a famous Hausa actor in Nigeria. He was raised by his parents in Yakasai, a small area in Kano State.
His father Nuhu Poloma hails from Balanga town, Gombe State and was a for Chairman of PDP in the state. Ali Nuhu’s mother Hajia Fatima Karderam Digema was a head teacher and also caterer before her sudden death in 1999.
In an interview with the Actor, Ali Nuhu said his late mother was an important figure in his career as an actor. Ali’s ambition to be an actor was encouraged by her. The actor’s father died as well. He died in June 2020, at the age of 78.
Education
Ali attended Riga Special primary School for his primary education after which he later proceeded to Government Day Secondary School, Kano where he got his Junior Certificate.
Between 1989 to 1991, Ali Nuhu continued his education to Science Secondary School Dawakin Tofar, after three years of studies he attained his secondary School leaving certificate.
After his graduation from High school, Nuhu went to the University of Jos, Plateau State to Study Geography. In 1997 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography.
He was a member of the Dance and Drama group during his National Youth Service Corps in Ibadan, Oyo State, in 1998.
Ali Nuhu competed in the NYSC National Dance and Drama Competition on behalf of Oyo State. He also studied Film Production and Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. He attended the Asian School of Media Studies in New Delhi for a film training program.
In 1999, Ali Nuhu made his professional acting debut in the Hausa film industry. With the film Abin Sirri Ne, he began his acting career. Following that, he appeared in films such as Danadam Butulu, Dijanagala, Wasila, Mujadala, and Sangaja, to name a few. These films aided him in carving out a niche for himself in both Kannywood and Nollywood.
Nuhu is a well-known Hausa actor who has dabbled in Nollywood. He won Africa’s most popular prize, the African Movie Academy Award, for his role in Sitanda, a film sponsored by Amstel Malta.
